The Things You Forget

This has been the worst season for the SF Giants since I have been a season ticketholder (2000). It has been tougher to go to games because the Giants always find a way to lose. I haven't been to a game in over a month but tonight was a Giant/Dodger Friday night game. Anyway, I was tired and wanted to go straight home after a long week. However, this was the last Friday Night Giant/Dodger game of the season.

So I struggled to the park after searching endlessly for some free parking. And when I got there, the love came back. It didn't matter that the Giants were 100 games out of first or that they had lost 11 straight home games to the Dodgers. All that mattered was I was with friends and family at a beautiful ballpark watching my favorite team.

The fans were loud, there were numerous fights, the Giants blew a ninth inning lead but in the end DANIEL ORTMEIER wrote another chapter in Giant/Dodger history as he blasted a walk off home run against the dreaded Dodgers. And in the moments that followed, all those great feelings came rushing back to me. I felt like I did in jr. high student listening to will clark hit a game winning single in the NLCS, i felt like I did in high school student watching Rod Beck pitch in 8 straight games down the stretch, i felt like i did in college when Brian Johnson hit that home run, and I felt like I did when I was a newcomer in the working world and watched JT Snow tie a playoff game with a ninth inning homer. Tonight's homer wasn't the greatest home run in the world, tonight wasn't the greatest game, but tonight reminded me of why this game is great.

Even though I'm not a big sports fan, I will always be a Giants fan at heart! GIANTS RULE!
