The Bromance

Having been a part of some great bromances some friends and I reflected on some of TV's greatest bromances of all time. Here are ten of my favorites in no particular order. Sorry, but I have only seen several episodes of Enterouge and don't really know which two would be the greatest bromance on that show and the Honeymooners are a little too old school for me.

TED, MARSHALL, AND BARNEY - I couldn't really just pick two and I couldn't leave them off because there has actually been a book published (THE BRO CODE by Barney Stinson) based on the show. Ted and Marshall were friends since college and roomed long after school ended. Ted and Barney has had countless adventures with woman and are constantly each others wing men. Barney flew to get Lily to come back to Marshall because he believed their love to be so pure and has gotten Marshall a couple different jobs. It is funny how Barney always claims to be Ted's best friend and ignores when anyone says anything different. Right before Mashall finally gets married he realizes that Barney should be standing by him as one of his best men. So if Marshall realized that its not just a two man bromance its a three man one.

CHUCK AND MORGAN (CHUCK) - In this spy comedy the biggest thing that separates Chuck from other spies is his love for his family and friends. Even before having the intersect implanted in his head, he was way more talented than his NERD HERD job made you believe. One main reason is he couldn't leave his buddy Morgan behind. Now that they are roommates look for the childhood bromance grow even more. If they show more of Jeffster than it is possible the duo could replace Chuck and Morgan.

GILLIGAN AND THE SKIPPER (GILLIGAN'S ISLAND) - Even though the Skipper couldn't stand his lanky sidekick, he saved him a number of times and all those times he hit him it was out of love. Plus, the professor had both Mary Anne and Ginger so all Gilligan and the Skipper had were each other.

BALKI AND COUSIN LARRY - When a show has been over for years and you still remember their signature dance then they have to be on the list

CAPTAIN KIRK AND SPOCK - Star Trek was more than a sci-fi space ship show. Embedded in the show was the friendship between Spock and Kirk. The friendship grew even stronger on the big screen. We thought Spock was emotionless but before he died in Star Trek II he told Kirk "I have been and always shall be your friend."

TURK AND JD - I do not watch Scrubs all the time but this video says it all...

NORM AND CLIFF - In a show whose theme song states "Sometimes you wanna go where everybody knows your name and they're always glad you came. You wanna be where you can see, the troubles are all the same. You wanna be where everybody knows your name" the strongest friendship in the show was between these two barmates thats sat next to each other for 11 years and even guest appeared on the Simpsons.

LENNY AND CARL - Often it is the supporting characters on a show that make you laugh the most and for some reason Lenny's and Carl's bromance has always been extra comic relief when you are tired of another one of Homer's idiotic thoughts. The show often makes fun of this ambiguous relationship hinting they may be more than friends but never going there.

JOEY AND CHANDLER - Friends was a show that was focused on three main relationships, Ross and Rachel, Chandler and Monica and Joey and Chandler. The one relationship that was strong throughout the entire series was Joey's and Chandler's. They hugged on the show more than any other guy friendship on TV and the finale's saddest moment was when the foosball had to be torn apart.

SHAWN AND GUS - This detective duo utilized the talents of both men. Shawn has the keen observation (psychic) skills while Gus has is filled with what some would think to be useless knowledge and he has the Super Smeller. Of course, it is Shawn's abilities that will most often decipher the case this show is nothing without their friendship. I love when the figure out the case and do their fist pump and little dance.

Who are your favorite bromances? The Fonz and Richie Cunningham, DX, Fred and Barney, Spike and Bumblebee, KITT and Michael Knight...
